Music

Intent

Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. As pupils progress, they should develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose, and to listen with discrimination to the best in the musical canon.

We use the Charanga digital platform to deliver music across the school. Lessons include singing, improvisation with percussion instruments, musical appreciation and composition.

There is a school choir which performs at various events in the local community.

We are able to offer instrumental tuition from private peripatetic piano and brass teachers who visit the school. Some children use the UVHS Primary Tuition scheme which offers the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments.
