Croftlands Junior School

British Values

Statement of Intent

Croftlands Junior School promotes the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.  We teach these values through our RE curriculum, our PSHE curriculum and the teaching of spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding.

We learn from the world around us, using a weekly current news story and a thought-provoking question.  Each question and news content is designed to develop our children's understanding of either democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance.    Within each news story, children also develop their understanding of protected characteristics: disability, religion and belief, race, gender, sexual orientation.

Should you always want to win? - Our behaviour and actions affect others.  We can show respect to each other, whether we win or lose.

Can pets make good companions in schools? - If we choose to have a pet, we must be aware of the responsibilities that come with it.

What makes someone inspirational? -
